Ooh, Aaah!- # 08/157

Sun glinting on gently rounded, perfectly proportioned metal. Simple but absolutely inspired design: even the chrome grill on the engine hood.

  1. Chrome grill on the engine hood? Then it dawned on me that your engine is in the rear end.

I only owned one brand new car with an engine in the rear end. Guess which one is was...

Corvair. Best damn car I ever owned that General Motors ever made. I owned them all.

    Buick
    Oldsmobile
    Pontiac
    Chevrolet (1957 model)
    Corvair

    LOL

Somebody said or I read it that GM is going bankrupt. That sounds a bit hard to believe but with their car making skills it wouldn't surprise me.

  2. This looks like it is someone's pride and joy. And no wonder! It is minimalism personified. I imagine you drooled as it passed down the street!

  4. Nice car from the 1960's. Surprised to see that it's got a towbar, as I wouldn't have thought the owner would want to spoil his pride & joy.

  5. Beautiful. It's been a long while since I've seen a bathtub Porsche - and even longer since I drove one.

  6. What does that mean, "a bathtub porsche"? A toy?

What would he tow? Maybe his own barista ...

  7. @Julie.....It's the style, Julie. Not an insult, but high praise and deep love. The new 911 style we have today appeared in 1961????? replacing "the bathtub".

  8. 'roony says....sorry, the "new" 911 body came out in 1963, not '61.

  9. Ok, I can't resist asking, " Is this guy in the Porsche and ambulance chaser?" If that's not a term you have heard of, in the US we call lawyers that are always lurking around the scene of accidents trying to find a new client, ambulance chasers.
