30 days hath September - # -08/234

On the last day of September it rained. That is an understatement! Today, 5th October, it's raining again......hard!

Anyway; the benefit is a nice shiny surface, coloured leaves dropping, and at the far end a market trader sitting glumly inside, deprived of customers. His neighbour has already shut up shop and gone home.

The scene is Kingston market glimpsed from the church yard. Kingston is next door to Richmond. The town was the place where Saxon Kings were crowned over 1,000 years ago.

  1. Nice shot with that great wet stonework leading the eye towards the poor customerless chap.

  3. .. hang on a minute. What are those plaques inset into the stone borders?

  5. (I hope the rain is at least warm and decreased in volume). Nothing like a walk around during a mild drizzle, the air smells so fresh. Love the walkway and vendor as you have captured and the lady walking by. All makes this an inviting shot.

  6. No one likes a show off.
Just a teeny little drizzle would be welcome here.

  7. I like this photograph...I can feel & smell the rain in the air through my computer screen!

  8. @Richard....it's squint because there was a bloke standing on mid-right sheltering and I had to stand on the left. I suppose a "real photographer" would have asked him to move.

I think the plaques may be "courtesy" grave markers placed after a "clean up". It's a very old church.

  9. Uh, please translate "it's squint" for a foreigner. Thanks.

  12. @Jill & Richard...nevertheless I can draw your attention to the fact that Cergie finds the symetry to be almost perfect. Will the Celts declare this to be an Anglo-Norman conspiracy to put a gloss on the Truth?
