Seething Wells! - # 09/35

Close to Electric Parade (# 09/34) is or are Seething Wells.

Once upon a time this was said to be a hot spring. The Romans certainly knew about it. They built a large military camp nearby, where they re-equipped and rested before fighting their way across the Thames shortly after their original landing on the South coast.

Now it's the remnants of a huge Victorian water pumping and processing station; part derelict, part new housing estate, part university halls of residence. The site is overall totally un-photogenic, but here, where the sun is catching the water in a derelict catchment pen, there seemed to be something worth capturing.

  2. Always beauty somewhere....the main clue to its decline is that fence. "Seething" I love the name!

  3. Definitely worth capturing. I love those hanging seedpods, and the reflection and light. The river so still yet with the tiniest ripples. Very nice. Yes, as Sally said, Seething Wells is a wonderful name.

  6. Simple but effective. I think I said before that I have a soft spot for photos where the sky isn't present, but inferred. I really like the soft reflection of that willow, or whatever it is, tree...

  7. The more I look at it - the more I like it.
At first I liked those reflected trees and the feel they give of gentleness - but now I like the black bit - it suggests sinister stuff
(i don't know the noun form of sinister - sinisterosity?) but you know the sinister stuff that has an enticing, alluring quality about it.

    That's it!
It reminds me of that Nick Cave/Kylie Minogue song - Where the Wild Roses Grow!
    See?
    Can you see it?
