Coot on ice! - # 09/17

Don't you just love his huge feet, his little red cap, his shiny black feathers, and admire the way he toughs out the frozen lake regardless of wind and weather?

Image taken at Pen Ponds, Richmond Park.

  3. Neat photo is a reminder of the hard times wildlife has in the winter.

Water birds and lots of animals have a difficult time getting along at this time of year. Sometimes it is their food source is frozen over or their drinking water is ice. It is a shame that more people do not care to think about Nature and the problems snow and ice makes for the things in the environment.

    :)
