Oh merrie Thames! See......... - # 09/22

………..how broad-shouldered Rhone and Rhine do thrust and jostle their rumbustuous way to South and North, seeking by sheer superfluity of volume to make their mark upon this tiny globe.

But thou, oh bright, happy stream, dost flow, modest and gently sparkling, beguilingly from West to East, thus capturing with cunning wit the wisdom of all the universe in thy sun-arced track.

  1. The big image works much better - seems to be almost a different exposure. Details from Richmond Hill in the distance, and that 747

  4. I was impressed yesterday. Now you are overdoing it! Confess I didn't notice the airplane. How does Richard know it's a 747? Don't answer..men just know these things.

  5. Well, I'm not convinced about the 747, but I'm convinced about the beauty of the Thames and your photo!

  6. I was going to write almost the same exact comment as Jilly until I read hers! How DO men know these things? Or maybe they don't and we just assume.....hmmmmm. Plane or no plane this is beautiful. I regret I don't have a better grasp on art history (among a lot of other topics) or I would tell you exactly what painter's work this reminds me of. Anyone???

  9. @Richard.........it's obvious! The angle of attack in the descent shows clearly that it's a 747.
