Two ducks, male and female - # 09/23

This is not my usual style of photo, but as Spring appoaches I couldn't resist this charming picture of "Him and Her" in their new home inside an old canoe. It was taken at the

Wildlife is under pressure and the Wetlands Centre is a remarkable example of how a huge 19th Century city water processing and distribution "miracle of engineering" can be converted into a magnificent and successful haven for water fowl.

A day out at the Centre is a delight for photographers and families, whatever their interests. It's like a world tour accomplished in a few hours.

  1. You seem to be trying to wash your suburban-nightmare out of your mind with some visually stunning photographs over the last week. The colours and the composition here are very satisfyikng, 'Roon: that beak is magnificent.

  4. Impressive ducks. I don't think we have these here where I live. At least I have not seen any of them.

  5. Sorry to lower the tone a notch or two, but I'm reminded of this cartoon

  7. Beautiful photo. Idyllic setting for these two ducks. Astounded by the head on the duck with the red beak. Never seen a duck with such a round head before. Extraordinary. He's like a painting. Beautiful eye.

  8. It can be very rewarding to get outside one's comfort zone, especially when sights like this are in that place. Nice!
