Blank menu - # 09/75

.....................another in the occasional Richmond upon Thames Bar Fly series.
Extremes of light and shadow can evoke powerful emotions.

  1. I love it... and really love that I didn't catch the figure on the right at first!

  3. @Shaun etc.....Thanks. I was first drawn to three major elements: the way the light was flooding out of the hatch across the black menu board, and then the black slab of the "Private" door; the third element was the enclosed and rather claustrophobic compression of what I saw. It hasn't quite come out as well as I had hoped, but it's clear that I've transmitted the idea. There were 4 attempts, and finally the "dark figure" just moved into the exact spot where I was willing him to stand!!

  5. You are so right in what you say - I'd not thought of B and W and emotions but true - absolutely true. Really do like this. Thanks for your comment on my B and W - total luck of course! Other than to say that at least I could recognise it as being a possible, and that in no small way due to seeing your photos and Richard's in B and W.

  7. Very nice...but I too see no specials...signs of recessionary times perhaps.
