Police have an accident - # 188

The Police really must learn to stop having accidents. This time they've blocked the whole road.

(actually this is a broken gas main that has totally cut the road between Richmond and Kingston.....this is serious. The road is tiny, yet important, and very busy: medieval road carrying 21st century traffic volumes. This important communication route is sandwiched between the river Thames and the Richmond Park, so there's no way to avoid the blockage without making a huge detour. Buses are blocked and commuter trips to the station become difficult.)

  1. Well, that is what the sign says, isn't it? haha

  2. And very little publicity given to the chaos too - only found out when I went to catch the bus.

That very same bus service was disrupted at the start of this week when a tree fell over in Queen's Road....

  3. I never thought about that before - now I won't be able to think of anything else. Like the "men at work" signs ("want a medal, do you?")

  4. Too funny!!!

Someone should spray paint "AGAIN!?!?" on the sign.

  5. Non sequitur here about chocolate. There are plenty of milk chocolates here, but none branded Milka. In fact, a 30-something Swiss I asked whether had Milka while growing up asked: "The German chocolate?" I'll have to try to dig up some info on the details of the sale to Kraft. Toblerone was also sold to Kraft, but that is still made in and available in CH.

  6. Men have been timidly digging away at this patch of the Petersham Road for over a week now, half-heartedly disrupting traffic flow in just one direction at a time.

So mission accomplished - total closure !

  7. @z - did you know that Toblerone was patented and that the patent was written by A Einstein?
