Richmond roofline 6 (straight lines and curves) - # 09/86

The geometric perfection of 1724 brick and stone contrasts with the perfectly cut bush with its gentle curve. (Maids of Honour Row, Richmond Green; built 1724).

  2. There is an irony in your contrast... since even the bush (nature) has been made to conform..... nice pic.

  3. @Richard.......Quite so. Well spotted.

@Shaun.....The Reformation and then the Age of Enlightenment; discovery of the rules of Nature meant you could attempt to control it. The harsh conditions of life for the common man contrast with the controled mathematical elegance of the manufactured world. A fascinating Age. How was it in Ancient Greece and in Rome?

  4. Maids of Honour row. How perfectly named. beautiful proportions and as you say shown off so beautifully by the curve of the bush.
