Spatial transposition at the speed of thought - # 90
I like the way that my shot of the bus stand advert for Gdansk in Poland shows the Polish Street (with a very un-Polish red head??) alongside the Richmond scene of people waiting for their bus. One suddenly thinks - "Where are we, exactly?" I am absolutely delighted to see the Poles promoting themselves like this. It's a very new departure 17 years after the collapse of communism. I'm a great fan of the country - and a piece of Chopin on the record player is a true delight.
Ye Maybe just Maybe like it
ReplyDeleteThis is VERY good! Living here in Poland at the moment...you really feel like you are in the middle of some historical change. It's very good to see that Gdansk is being promoted. There are plenty of other beautiful cities here in Poland which English tourists would just love. Krakow, Wrocław and of course Toruń just to name a few!
ReplyDeleteThe street that the image on this poster was taken in, is a very famous touristy street in Gdansk. It is lined either side with loads of little amber shops. It also has some real nice architectural features such as the dragon drain pipe that you can see in the poster.
Good stuff! Greetings from Toruń DP!
A beautiful post and the comments are good too.
ReplyDeleteFrom here, the red-head looks like an anime rendering, especially with the dragon chewing on her coat. Maybe I should get my head examined...
ReplyDeleteThanks Chuckeroon! Very nice of you to put Toruń DP on your selection. Glad you like the blog.
ReplyDeleteInteresting photos, both yours and the publicity poster!
ReplyDeleteTrue redheads are not very common in Poland, but hair dyes are ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove Chopin! The record player - are they still around?
Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteIt's really surprising to see my home country advertising in Richmond. I agree that Gdansk and Torun are worth visiting.
ReplyDeleteAs Richmond resident I enjoy your blog very much. Specialy notes on architecture and buildings.
