First sight of Autumn - # 72/10

It's late September and late afternoon but there is still light streaming from the overcast sky. The curving path across the meadow of Petersham Copse catches my eye and I'm struck by the  fact that the grass alongside the path is so green.  The curve of the path and the gentle coluring seemed worth a photo: nothing monumental, but it catches the flavour of the season and the area we live in.

It's that time of year - # 08/202

In the forests of France and England and Italy the truffle hunters are out with their dogs and their pigs on harnesses hunting for truffles which are particularly good this year because of the damp conditions.

On the oak trees, like this one, remarkable fungi are appearing, looking strange and magnificent.

Three figures perfectly at home in their world - # 63

Here's a comment on my Post # 2 "Three figures in an alien world". This photo was taken a few days ago from almost the exact same viewpoint as the # 2 taken in January. Notice that the "Spirit of the Woods" has changed the three humans into three birds. Have a happy weekend, everyone.

Three figures in an alien world

Three figures in an alien world - #2
Last week the cold snap transformed the Petersham Copse into a new and hostile scene, dark and unwelcoming, with a fierce North wind blowing through. But now the snow has gone and in eight weeks the copse will be thick with new green growth, and loud with birdsong. Go through early and you will catch Mr. Badger finishing his night rounds, and see Mr. Fox on the prowl.
