Multi-coloured Spontaneous Art Installation - # 68/2011

The painter's trestle in the boat-building yard at Richmond Bridge might do well in a gallery for expensive "modern" art.

Skilled craftsman at work building a new, traditional design, wooden sailing vessel at Richmond Bridge. Go along and see this special boat. It's almost finished.

Boat builder's paradise - # 08/180

The little workshop complex under Richmond Bridge always provides good material.

The little rowing boat seems to be a camping set-up with iron hoops to take the canvass cover at night. By the way: skiff camping on the upper reaches of the Thames from Oxford down to Hampton Court (a nice long skiff used as a tented sleeper overnight) - just like in Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men in a Boat" - is still popular and a great way to experience the "real Thames".

Worth getting up in the morning for - # 08/169

Life is never simple and straight forward, but having a work shop like this and a job where you spend all day making useful things in wood must give you a big incentive to get up in the morning and go to work. (The boatbuilder's shed under Richmond Bridge. The colour is a bit odd because of the lighting).

Hand made boats made of wood availaible here - # 08/159

The boat builders who inhabit the arches under and around Richmond Bridge are alive and well.

I can never resist snapping this Aladdin's Cave whenever the door is open.

Cave of delights - # 86

Look back to Post # 22 from last February and you will see again the magnificent Thames skiff. Here's a snap of the interior of this craftsman's heaven. Note the tiny white mug half hidden on the bench.......that's essential for moments when ispiration is needed!
