Poppy in field of daisies- # 08/166

The Summer wildflowers are looking very pretty this week, BT Broadband is failing to work properly.

(By the way...my broadband speed has dropped to less than 20% of what it should be. Consequently it has become difficult to speedily review my regular CDP favourites. Please excuse an apparent lack of my presence on your comments pages. I was never a prolific commenter - although Richard of Zurich might breathe a sigh of relief -, but this slow-speed bug is making it tiresomely slow to even look at the enjoyable snaps that you all produce. BT assure me that they will fix it, but I have a nasty feeling that it might be a longish process. Anyway, rest assured of my support and interest. I will return when BT gets itself organised and once again provides what I am actually paying for).

The day of the ant - # 08/119

Ants are invading and exploring our kitchen, and leaving piles of fine earth all over the door step, and even swimming across water to taste food left in a basin surrounded by water. The ants are heaving and hauling and working very hard.

So, with this little "hand-held" macro shot, I hail the ant.....and hope it will soon go away. It's worth clicking on the photo to see enlarge it and see the ant's little eyes.

Mr. Fox is late coming home - # 08/96

The meadows are jam packed with spring flowers. This is a "good" Spring.

This morning I stopped to snap the wild flowers in the ha-ha outside Ham House and spotted the fox. It's about 08.55, so he is late returning from his night-time hunt.

I hardly had any time to set the camera, so the image is all rough and fuzzy. But there he is - just one of our local foxes.

Wild flower - # 207

These flowers grow around the blackberry bushes. The intensity of colour is very pleasing.

A tiny garden among the cracks - # 173

I'm gaining in my appreciation of wild flowers. Here is a close-up of a tiny garden developing in the cracks between the patio stones. I think I'll leave it for a while to see how it turns out.

White delight - # 168

Another of the delightful wild flowers that are flourishing in the area this season. It's hard to catch these pictures because the wind keeps blowing them about. They just will not stand still while I focus and fiddle with the camera.

Wild flowers in Petersham 2 - # 163

It's time to celebrate the delights of the open meadow and wild garden. The early spring was dry and the wild flower spectrum in May was less spectacular than last year. This June/July, the intense rains are giving extra force to the later sorts.

Wild flowers in Petersham - # 154

The meadows around Petersham are abundant with wild flowers. Can anyone identify this for me?
