The Bar Fly meets The Stand-up Comedian - # 52/2011

I enjoy "Stand-up".  It's often a bit crude (and sometimes it's unnecessarilly crude). It's certainly not "politically correct" and that's good in a world where political correctness has got out of hand and needs a rap on the nuckles. 

I have to thank the comedians at the Ram Jam Club at the Grey Horse in Kingston for kindly allowing me to photograph them in action, using only "available light" .  This is the most charismatic image I captured during a laughter-filled Friday night.

Da Bar Fly's got rhythm - # 09/29

My friend, the Bar Fly, turned up last night and insisted on going to the Grey Horse in Kingston. "Delores Hylton is singing with great bongo, sax, and two guitars in support!"

"But" (I reminded him) " I always get carried away and go beyond myself at the Grey Horse. As a live venue it's just too exciting for me".

"Tush! We're going to hear Delores" he said.

So, here we are (or rather: here she is).

I used the Olympus C7070wz compact, which is a little bit under powered for this job; but the lens has done extremely well picking out the brick work which at least stood still! Being a masochist I enjoy struggling with available light shots.

The Grey Horse! - # 08/277

This is IT! So much so that 19 years ago, when my 15 year old son took me there, he had to tell me too "cool it" and threatened not to take me again. However, just recently he told me that the "Hamsters" are still playing there after all these years, and I ought to go. "You'd enjoy yourself, Daddy". This certainly is THE premier live music venue in Kingston upon Thames...and look!!!....it's "EVERY EVENING 7 DAYS A WEEK"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
