The training paddock - # 08/228

The last few days of September bless us with brilliant sunshine. The orientation of the sun and the hour of day were just right to enhance this image of the horse and trainer in the paddock near Ham House. B&W is the only option for this photo. There is no other choice.

Camera: Olympus C7070 wz. Strong back-lighting, clear sun around 9.50 am.

  1. Absolutely right on. I think 98% of the time, the photograph dictates whether we choose color or monotone. Occasionally, I have a photo that I really can't choose, but not often. Your photo today is exceptional. The light, the movement is just wonderful! Bravo.

  2. Stunning photo as usual - wonderful framing and the light is exquisite!!!

  3. Hi Roon! Here I am to enjoy your lovely blog on my weekly visit!
And this week we have again some wonderful pictures.
This one is stunning, and I see that you still have a great late September weather; at least from what I saw on the ManUnited-Bolton and Stoke City-Chelsea... ;))
    Amazing gum tree!
    Beautiful Equinox picture...
    Great job!!
Look forward to reading you at Blogtrotter, now back in Chania!
    Have a great weekend!

  4. Wow. This is just superb. Love the concentration from the trainer, the movement of the horse and of course the light - wonderful photograph. You caught this at the perfect moment to show the horse's action and energy. There's a feel he wants to play her up and she won't have it but perhaps my imagination is working overtime. It's that sort of photograph tho - it tells a story.

  5. The subject always dictates the colour. Best not to fght it just embarc it. Perfectly timed shot, amazing light, lovely movement. Outstanding image.

  6. Nice one

Em - "Shot dictates B+W or Colour" - what if you only have Tri-x loaded in your camera?
